2007 Joint Annual Convention

The joint annual convention of the CT-MRI Society of the Philippines and the  Ultrasound Society of the Philippines was held last October 25 to 27 at the Manila Hotel Centennial Hall. The theme of this year’s joint annual convention was “Transcending Borders with Ultrasound, CT and MRI.”

The first one and a half days of the convention focused on CT and MRI. Dr. Lino Santiago S. Pabillo, the President of the Philippine College of Radiology, officially started the three day convention with his opening remarks. This was then followed by a welcome address delivered by Dr. Manuel C. Mejia, the President of the CT-MRI Society of the Philippines.

An overview of the scientific program was handled by Dr. Ma. Cartrini O. Cruz, the CT-MRISP Convention Chair. There were two distinguished foreign speakers that were invited to lecture: Dr. Gan Yu Unn from Singapore gave a very interesting lecture on post-surgical MDCT evaluation of Cardiovascular Disease and another talk on imaging findings of Pulmonary thromboembolism.

Dr. Seung-Koo Lee from South Korea delivered two talks focusing on advancements in Brain Imaging, particularly Diffusion Tensor Imaging and Perfusion weighted Imaging. Aside from the foreign speakers, distinguished radiologists from the Philippines also gave very interesting lectures on different topics. Dr. Irma David-Kintanar gave a thorough discussion on CSF Flow studies while Dr. Claro B. Ison, Jr. presented topics on neuroimaging pathologies.

Certain aspects of Musculoskeletal and Abdominal imaging on CT and MRI were also tackled by Drs. Rafael S. Joson and Manuel C. Mejia, Jr., respectively. Dr. Joson delivered a lecture on Glenohumeral Joint Instability.
